Jane, Founder, Co-Owner & Instructor

Jane is a highly skilled Pilates instructor and lifelong student of movement, known for her thoughtful, refined approach to teaching. Growing up she attended yoga and Pilates classes with her mom and she was drawn early to the balance of athleticism, precision, and ease that continues to define her work today.

She holds 500 hours of yoga certification from Down Dog Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga Cville, along with 500 hours of Pilates certification from New York Pilates, and brings over 6,000 hours of teaching experience to the studio. Jane’s relationship with Pilates—and with the method taught at The Shed—deepened during the COVID era and throughout her first pregnancy.

With extensive experience working with bodies of all shapes and sizes, especially women’s bodies through periods of transformation, Jane offers a nuanced understanding of how to build, support, and sustain strength across every stage of life. In Jane’s classes you can expect to be challenged, corrected with hands on and specific verbal cues, all while experiencing the joy of moving.

Elizabeth, Instructor

Elizabeth has been a runner since she was 11 years old. She found yoga and Pilates in her 20s when she was looking for a way to diversify her workouts, build strength and improve running mechanics. Elizabeth started training with Jane in her home (pre-shed!) in 2020 and became addicted to the strengthening yoga/pilates fusion workouts. As a mom of three young kids, she’s been able to practice self-care and find peace and strength in daily life through her workouts in the Shed. Elizabeth completed her mat Pilates certification in the Spring of 2025.

Natalie, Instructor

Natalie is a Pilates instructor currently completing her comprehensive certification in Mat, Reformer, and Cadillac training. She discovered Pilates during the pandemic through online mat classes and quickly became captivated by the mind-body connection and the way Pilates deepens your understanding of your own strength. With a lifelong belief that fitness is not a destination but a continuous journey, Natalie sees movement as a way to consistently learn, grow, and evolve. After relocating from Chicago to Richmond, Natalie found that same sense of belonging and purpose at The Shed. As a new instructor, her goal is to create a welcoming and empowering space for all bodies and experience levels. Natalie’s classes are dynamic and challenging, rooted in classical principles but infused with contemporary and thoughtful variations. She emphasizes form, core strength, and fluid transitions, encouraging each client to tune in, work hard, and feel good in their body.
